Hey there! I’m Lauren, the “girl” behind Abba’s Girl! I’m a wife and a mother of boys living here in the Lowcountry of South Carolina. If I could be with you in person right now, chances are we’d sharing a cup of coffee on my couch or soaking up some sun at a nearby beach. Indeed, I am that Southern girl who craves her coffee and sunshine (chocolate too!)!
If you’re anything like me, I’m sure you also crave connection with other women. You long to ‘let your guard down,” revealing the reality of your story…the bitterness and sweetness of it all.
At the start of high school, I really started to grapple with my story: a fatherless daughter raised by a single mom. As a freshman student in college, I finally hit a wall of grief, feeling alone in that vulnerable place of processing an absent father. I longed to connect with other women, who could relate to my journey. Years later, that’s what ultimately inspired me to start this blog: a community for women to process father wounds and to receive truth about a greater, Gospel reality than that hurt of an absent or negligent father.
Indeed, this Gospel reality has radically transformed my story, and it will do the same for you too! This Gospel reality of Jesus Christ promises to make you and me an Abba’s Girl- a daughter lavishly loved and passionately pursued by her Heavenly Father! And that, my friend, is what this blog is all about: a little haven on the web to remind you of what it practically means to be an Abba’s Girl, who is anchored in the Father’s love!
As you meander through this blog, you’ll expect to find posts on the 3 F’s, as I call them!
Faith- My faith as a child of God and a follower of Jesus Christ is central to my identity and worldview. As such, I’ll be exploring what the gospel of Jesus Christ specifically means for us as women in this culture and generation.
Food- Like most women, I have had a complicated relationship with food. I’ve recovered from an eating disorder, witnessing the healing power of God’s grace in this struggle. My recovery process has taught me so much about my true identity as a child of God and an empowered woman in Jesus Christ.
Fatherlessness- I’ll be exploring many aspects of growing up without a dad in my past and my present, including how it’s drawing me closer to my Heavenly Father.
It’s my prayer that you will know the Father’s heart for you through interacting with this blog! I’m excited not only to to share with you, but also to learn from you. I encourage you to comment on posts, join our Facebook page, and share your story as a guest blogger!
